Guava is an economically important fruit in tropical countries, like Thailand. This fruit, with notes of pineapple and banana, has a tropical flavor. The fruit can be eaten raw, blended into jams, chutneys, ice cream, custards, sauces, and so on. It is suitable for cooking, baking, and preserving. Besides its unique flavor and fragrance, guava has been hailed as one of the super fruits due to the numerous health benefits it offers. India, China, and Thailand are the biggest producers of guava and about 55 million tons of guava are produced worldwide in 2019. The Guava Market size is estimated to reach $1,250 million by 2027. Fresh guava is a perishable product. Its distribution and transportation should be done under a strict cold chain to its different consumer markets.

To maintain highly acceptable sensory quality, the optimum storage temperature was 8-10°C (46-50°F) and 90-95% RH for mature-green and partially-ripe guavas, 5-8°C (41-46°F) and 90-95% RH for fully-ripe guavas. At these temperature range, the fruits had attractive colour, pleasant flavour and acceptable quality. Fruits stored below 5°C developed chilling injury symptoms like, surface pitting, brown streaks, abnormal ripening and bland taste after 7 days of storage, while fruits at 9°C developed faster ripening, pleasant flavour and over softening on further storage.

Freshliance Fresh Tag 10TH single use USB temperature and humidity data logger is a small, portable device with an LCD screen that is ideal for use in the guava cold chain. Fresh Tag 10TH single use temperature and humidity recorders are robust enough to withstand the rigors of the journey while being compact and lightweight to sit conveniently with shipments. This temperature and humidity recorder for shipping is ideal for guava. All parameters including alarm points can be configured on our free configuration software. Up to 6 alarm points can be set. Once the temperature and humidity are out of the alarm range, the alarm symbol will be displayed on the screen and the red indicator will flash once every 10 seconds. On arrival at its destination, after stopping this disposable temperature recorder for shipping, plug it into the computer, and the irreversible PDF&CSV report with graph and table will be generated automatically and quickly without any additional software. The mark and alarm will also show on this report. When transporting temperature and humidity-sensitive goods like guava, it’s crucial that the carrier pay close attention to the details. The shipper will list the specific temperature freight needs to remain during transit. If this temperature setting is altered up or down at all, the freight could be damaged and may be deemed unacceptable upon delivery. This report will be the necessary evidence for the product owner and the cold chain carrier if the cold chain performance objection is required.
