What are the Ideal Conditions to Transport Rum?
Rum requires particular temperature and humidity conditions. Freshliance TagPlus TH multi-use usb temperature and humidity data logger can record these essential data and generate reports at the destination to avoid unnecessary economic loss and dispute.
Rum is a liquor made by fermenting and then distilling sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. Rum is a versatile spirit used in many cocktails, but it’s also full enough of flavor to be served on its own. Many rums are aged and blended to perfection and should be appreciated the way you would whisky. The global rum business has been driven by millennial customers’ growing curiosity in the veracity of alcoholic beverages. Furthermore, the increasing number of product launches in the industry including a variety of flavors is attracting new consumers and boosting product demand.
Rum requires particular temperature and humidity. The ideal travel temperature is between 10 to 20°C. At excessively high temperatures, expansion in volume (dilatation) may occur, causing the closures to loosen and evaporation losses to occur. Temperatures > 25°C or solar radiation cause discoloration, resinification of the essential oils, oxidation phenomena and the breakdown of quality-determining aromatic substances. Temperatures < 10°C cause separation, and sedimentation of coloring substances occurs. Chill haze does not impair flavor and quality, however, and may be reversed at temperatures > 18°C. Temperatures < 0°C may cause a reduction in the volume of the contents, giving the impression of shortage. The ideal relative humidity is 70% for rum. A relative humidity > 70% has a negative effect on the appearance of the bottles due to wetting and detachment of the label.
TagPlus-TH is a reusable usb temperature and humidity sensor with an LCD screen for easy viewing of temperature data. In this device, parameters can be configured by a professional user before use. The alarm points can be configured on our free configuration software. Once the temperature and humidity are out of the alarm range, the alarm symbol will be displayed on the screen. Complete trip history is recorded and downloaded as encrypted reports with summary data, graphs, and tables, the report can be directly read by PC at the destination, without any additional software. And the temporary mode allows this data logger recorder temperature and humidity to continue working after users have generated and read the temporary report. It is an ideal choice for monitoring and recording the temperature and humidity changes of rum and other temperature and humidity sensitive cargo during transportation.
